22. Scream Raven (2)
Unlike his crow-like appearance, Scream Raven acted like a hawk.
He stepped on the fallen monster’s back and raised his sharp claws to the fullest to snatch Kwon Joo-Ho, standing there.
“Take care of the aggro!”
[(online gaming, MMORPG slang, transitive) To cause a non-player character to become aggressive towards the player’s character.]
Baek Hae-Won shouted out in a loud voice.
Just before departure, Baek Hae-Won urged Yoon Seung-Jae to take good care of the aggro because Scream Raven attacks a random target as soon as the aggro is released.
However, Yoon Seung-Jae missed the monster left in the sky because he was paying all his attention to Scream Raven, who fell to the ground. He struggled so much for a long time that he wanted to get rid of even one quickly.
“here, come here!”
Yoon Seung-Jae belatedly bumped his shield and sword to create noise. Still, more was needed to attract the attention of Scream Raven, who had already decided on the target of the attack.
Even though Baek Hae-Won set off a flame and burned one wing, Scream Raven reached Kwon Joo-Ho in a blink of an eye.
Kwon Joo-Ho hurriedly rolled over and avoided his attack.
A sharp claw narrowly brushed Kwon Joo-Ho’s shoulder.
If Baek Hae-Won hadn’t delayed Scream Raven by a few seconds, Kwon Joo-Ho’s right shoulder might have been ripped off.
Scream Raven, who landed on the floor, tried to peck Kwon Joo-Ho’s head, stumbling with his long beak without hesitation.
“You should play with me!”
Fortunately, Yoon Seung-Jae, who stepped in not late, hit Scream Raven on the side of the head with a shield, turning the Scream Raven’s path.
In addition to the attack’s failure, Scream Raven, hit by an arrow on its shoulder one after another, flapped its wings.
In the meantime, Kwon Joo-Ho, who found the center, cut off Scream Raven’s wings instantly.
To be exact, only the bird’s feathers were cut off, significantly reducing wind speed.
Yoon Seung-Jae hit its beak with a sword this time.
The Scream Raven was stiff for a while, perhaps because of tremendous shock.
Despite the irregularly swirling wind around, Shin Do-Gyeom’s arrow accurately penetrated the Scream Raven’s forehead.
At the same time, Kwon Joo-Ho’s sword penetrated the Scream Raven’s neck.
“Kraa… kraaa.. kraaaa…kraaa….” Scream Raven shook himself and struggled to hold out but soon collapsed.
When the battle ended safely, Ye-Hyeon breathed a sigh of relief and rubbed his wet palms on his thighs.
He had been nervous watching it a few times, but it was the first time Ye-Hyeon even had a cold sweat.
“Do you see this? I got them both.”
Shin Do-Gyeom pointed to an arrow stuck in the top of Scream Raven’s head and near its heart, respectively, and quarreled with Kwon Joo-Ho.
It wasn’t condescending. It was more like arguing.
” …I broke its wings, so there was a gap. I cut this first.”
“What? Hey. If you have eyes, you should look straight.”
Kwon Joo-Ho also never backed down.
As the days went by, the war of nerves between Shin Do-Gyeom and Kwon Joo-Ho became rougher.
“It’s starting again.”
Ye-Hyeon shook his face and approached Baek Hae-Won.
Baek Hae-Won was walking far away with Yoon Seung-Jae.
Ye-Hyeon doesn’t know what they are talking about, but unlike Baek Hae-Won, Yoon Seung-Jae’s expression is getting teary. He seemed to be in pain.
It was rare for Baek Hae-Won to give personal feedback.
It meant that Yoon Seung-Jae’s mistake was a big mistake.
Ye-Hyeon thought he would have to wait to ask Baek Hae-Won for help.
Ye-Hyeon slowly approached the two, biting his lower lip.
‘Why the hell isn’t it working? I couldn’t understand even though I was watching from the side.’ Ye-Hyeon was puzzled
Shin Do-Gyeom was cranky, but he was relatively generous to those he thought had valuable skills.
Kwon Joo-Ho was said to be blunt enough to ignore even compliments, even though he quarreled.
Ye-Hyeon thought that the two would get along well, so it was a surprise that they bumped into each other in everything.
Kwon Joo-Ho, even if his image might have been a misunderstanding because he had not met him in person, it was not the same with Shin Do-Gyeom.
Others did not influence Shin Do-Gyeom because his standards were evident.
It was strange that Shin Do-Gyeom cared too much about Kwon Joo-Ho.
“You’ve only been sucking my fingers from below, but you’re good at speaking.”
“Then can I grab them all?”
Ye-Hyeon scratched his back head and opened his mouth, but Kwon Joo-Ho and Shin Do-Gyeom didn’t glance at Ye-Hyeon.
After hesitating, Ye-Hyeon plucked up courage and carefully said it.
They ignored him as if he was not there, even though he was playing around. Suddenly, two pairs of eyes were stuck in Ye-Hyeon simultaneously.
“Is it annoying because you two fit so well?”
Ye-Hyeon swallowed a smile inside as if the two planned to look at him simultaneously.
Ye-Hyeon tried to avoid Kwon Joo-Ho’s gaze.
He sometimes felt his skin stinging because of his deep eyes, even though he wasn’t even staring.
Unlike his indifferent expression, his eyes felt persistent.
However, turning to Shin Do-Gyeom did not mean the situation was better.
Shin Do-Gyeom’s face crumpled.
The irritation directed at Kwon Joo-Ho spread to Ye-Hyeon.
“What are you talking about there, huddled together?”
Baek Hae-Won returned when Shin Do-Gyeom approached Ye-Hyeon and tried to threaten him in a low voice.
Ye-Hyeon looked to the side.
The sunlight pouring over Baek Hae-Won’s head looked like a halo.
‘Angel…!’ Ye-Hyeon thought.
Ye-Hyeon had no choice but to agree that Baek Hae-Won was an angel.
Baek Hae-Won has yet to become very comfortable with them, but Ye-Hyeon has come to rely on him little by little.
Unlike his gorgeous appearance, he was strong-willed, so he was reliable enough to be a big brother.
While Baek Hae-Won calmed Kwon Joo-Ho and Shin Do-Gyeom, Yoon Seung-Jae hung on to Ye-Hyeon with a tearful face.
“Oh, you should have concentrated.”
Ye-Hyeon used his palm to stroke Yoon Seung-Jae’s head while verbally abusing him.
Yoon Seung-Jae rubbed his forehead on his shoulder like a baby.
When Yoon Seung-Jae, who lives on his pride, died. Ye-Hyeon felt a little sorry for him.
“It’s okay. You can do well next time.”
Yoon Seung-Jae hugged Ye-Hyeon’s waist and nodded.
Seung-Jae’s fluffy hair tickled Ye-Hyeon’s neck.
Ye-Hyeon couldn’t resist and burst into laughter.
[System] The intimacy of ‘ Target 4: Yoon Seung-Jae’ has increased by 1 point.
‘It’s been a long time since it climbed up.’
Ye-Hyeon kept a charming smile and playfully tickled the back of Yoon Seung-Jae’s head with his fingertips.
“If Seung-Jae misses Agro, Kwon Joo-Ho or Shin Do-Gyeom should draw attention as soon as possible.”
“I won’t miss it anymore!”
“That’s the best.”
Yoon Seung-Jae replied energetically, still clinging to Ye-Hyeon’s back.
Baek Hae-Won held back his laughter and nodded his head.
“Kwon Joo-Ho, treatment…”
Kwon Joo-Ho glanced at Ye-Hyeon and turned around.
Ye-Hyeon also did not recommend more to the apparent rejection.
Since he first treated his cheeks, Kwon Joo-Ho has been reluctant to be treated by Ye-Hyeon.
‘You can’t trust my treatment anymore?’ Ye-Hyeon thought.
Ye-Hyeon secretly stared at the back of Kwon Joo-Ho’s head.
Most of the dungeons where Scream Raven appeared were desolate.
The most representative was the flat land that was split due to the silence or the ruins reminiscent of Pompeii. This dungeon was a stark stone mountain with no trees in sight.
“Ha, ha, ha…”
Ye-Hyeon quickly breathed heavily, even though it was right after taking a short break and starting again.
The slope was so steep, and there was no road, so it felt like climbing a rock wall.
“I see one in the 3 o’clock direction!” Yoon Seung-Jae shouted.
Once the party got the hang of it, it soon went well.
The wind got stronger as it approached the top, but no matter how intense the wind was, it did not continue to blow in the same direction.
After reading the flow of the wind and the movement of Scream Raven, Shin Do-Gyeom tried to shoot down a monster flying in the air.
Of the 10 shots, only two or three were hit, and even those that caused fatal injuries were rare. It was already great to hit a Scream Raven with only passive skills.
Yoon Seung-Jae seemed to have fun throwing rocks, so he walked around and paid attention to the right-sized stones.
He was excited and threw stones, but he didn’t forget to drag them with a tug from time to time.
He threw a stone and tried to pick up the next rock but stopped. When he saw him drawing aggro with a grim expression, Ye-Hyeon wondered what he had heard from Baek Hae-Won.
The monster lost its balance and fell due to the attack of the two. Kwon Joo-Ho, waiting below, rushed at once.
It was so fast that the swing of the sword looked invisible. The monster was frustrated because of the long-range attack or Shin Do-Gyeom’s provocation.
Even if it is not as big as Yoon Seung-Jae, Kwon Joo-Ho could throw enough stones to interfere with Scream Raven’s flight. Still, he seemed to have judged that letting go of the weapons from his hands was inappropriate.
When Shin Dong-Gyeom and Kwon Joo-Ho competed with each other, Yoon Seung-Jae also heated up as if he could not lose.
Ye-Hyeon can see clearly that the teamwork is still not good, but ironically, the time required for the battle has been getting shorter.
Ye-Hyeon doesn’t know if it’s good or bad.
It was several times more smooth than Ye-Hyeon expected.
Of course, it was purely thanks to Baek Hae-Won.
Baek Hae-Won helped the three people by blocking Scream Raven’s view with a flame or burning a little wing feather.
“If you continue to grow like this, you will soon leave me and become independent.”
Baek Hae-Won used to joke with half pride and half regret when he saw the party member who had grown up.
When Ye-Hyeon heard that, he thought Baek Hae-Won was deliberately trying to stimulate him by praising him excessively. Still, now Ye-Hyeon saw that it was not empty words.
If Ye-Hyeon learns one more skill, they can try clearing the gate instead of sweeping it.
Clearing means they enter the gate with the primary purpose of eliminating the boss, it also means they would be the first to enter after a gate has been opened, while sweeping means killing the remaining monsters inside.
I’m a bit annoyed at Ye-Hyeon. I know he’s still learning about being a leader, but he should already have stopped depending so much on Hae-won’s leadership. But, most importantly, he should stop being so passive about SDG and KJH’s rivalry. He’s got to teach them that it’s not a competition, and the longer they keep on with this mindset, the more dangerous it is. I could forgive it if he was also a green hunter, but the reality is that he’s been in this battlefield for a while.
Thanks for reading my Ted talk.
