“Put this on.”
“Have you tried it on?”
The manager’s voice was heard along with a knock on the door. Startled, Jaehee quickly put on her clothes. Jung-hoo watched her put on her new stockings and even helped her with the adhesive bra. As he pulled the bra cups together, creating a nice cleavage, he lightly kissed her between them.
“Today, Sunbae you’ll be the most beautiful.”
After putting on the prepared black dress, he zipped it up for her.
“Come on in.”
When she put on the dress, the manager entered the room. She put down a black velvet box she was holding in her hand on the table.
“It’s an unreleased item from T company. I had to rush to get it from there, so I’m sorry for being late, Mr. Yoon.”
As she finished speaking, she proudly opened the velvet box, revealing a necklace, earring, and ring set with hundreds of diamonds. The diamonds glistened blindingly under the light. Jaehee looked at the transparent white diamonds, captivated for a moment.
“Isn’t it beautiful? It will go well with the dress too. The earring is 1 carat and the ring is a simple platinum setting with 2 carats. The earrings and ring are simple because the necklace is too fancy.”
When Jung-hoo held up the necklace, the light refracted and shimmered down. Jaehee staggered back, overwhelmed.
“This doesn’t seem right.”
At those words, Jung-hoo chuckled softly. He blocked her path faster than Jae-hee could move and placed the necklace around her neck. The diamonds covered her entire collarbone, shimmering and shining brightly as if showing off their grandeur. He grabbed Jae-hee’s shoulders and positioned her in front of a mirror to see her reflection.
“As expected, beautiful.”
When Jung-hoo gestured, the manager brought over earrings and a ring.
The manager lifted Jae-hee’s left hand when she instinctively flinched and shook her hand off, causing the ring to fall onto the marble with a sharp sound.
Jung-hoo’s hand shook as if he had been electrocuted. He caught her left hand and tried to put the ring back on her finger, but Jae-hee had no choice but to recoil.
“It’s just an accessory.”
Although he was referring to the ring, it sounded like he was referring to herself. It sounded like he was trying to decorate her just to stand prettily by his side. It didn’t fit. No matter how beautiful the clothes and expensive accessories were, it didn’t change the essence.
Jung-hoo slowly bent down and picked up the ring from the floor.
The manager tried to hide her surprise and continued to smile awkwardly.
With a determined face, Jung-hoo grabbed her hand and forced the ring onto her finger.
“Bring the shoes.”
At Jung-hoo’s words, the manager quickly brought over glittering shoes next to the sofa. Jung-hoo snatched them and carefully lifted one of Jae-hee’s feet, causing her to protest.
“Don’t do this, Jung-hoo.”
I found my voice trembling uncontrollably.
“The cost of the shoes will be deducted from the amount that Sunbae has to spend. This amount doesn’t exist. I’m not superstitious, but I trust Sunbae less than superstitions.”
He carefully placed the shoes on both feet and then looked up. Jae-hee read the clear warning in his cold eyes. His voice was very low and sounded gloomy.
“If you run away wearing them, I’ll break them.”
His fingers subtly touched her ankle and then traced up her stocking to her shin. Then, he suddenly smiled in his usual manner and stood up, holding her hand.
A subtle current flowed between them.
The manager maintained a poker face and handed the pair of earrings to them. In fact, the jewelry she was supposed to bring was different. But a phone call changed that. It was a masterpiece that T company’s chief designer had taken over a year to complete at a request from a chaebol’s wife. It had arrived in Korea this morning, and she was planning to deliver it to the madam’s house herself tomorrow. The manager had to compel herself to look elsewhere since her gaze returned to Jaehee again and again.
[T/N: Chaebol: a large family-owned business conglomerate.]
While doing this job, the manager had seen countless chaebol’s madams, their lovers, or their spouses. Even if they were not yet married, there was no one who didn’t like receiving this kind of gift. Sometimes, there were third-generation chaebols who brought in ordinary women who played with them to show off and dressed them up like this. It was more burdensome at that time. Those women acted like they were becoming chaebol madams and gestured to the manager or staff with just one finger.
But the woman that Jung-hoo had brought was a bit different. When he kneeled down and put on her shoes, she caught on right away.
“I’ve reserved the aesthetic of the hotel that’s connected. You can go now. After the aesthetics, I’ve prepared for you to receive hair and makeup right away.”
Jung-hoo nodded his head.
